Ian H. Terms of business:
Legal services provided through a solicitor are subject to the general terms and conditions for barristers in Annexes G1 and G2 of the Barrister’s Code of Conduct - available here.
Legal services provided directly to the public are subject to the terms set out in a client care letter sent to each client before an agreement is made to carry out relevant work.  A sample client care letter is available here, but individual agreements may vary as appropriate.  The agreement is governed by English law.
 
Charging rates:
For direct public access work, fixed fees (inclusive of VAT) are set out on the relevant websites (www.school-appeal.org.uk   www.education-barrister.com   www.licensing-barrister.com).  For all other services, Ian Jones operates a guideline rate of £175+VAT per hour, subject to the complexity and urgency of the work involved and to the addition of travel costs (time and mileage basis) where appropriate.  Fees will be agreed in advance wherever possible.  All services provided by Ian Jones are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate (VAT Reg. 824 206 162).
 
Dispute resolution and insurance:
Ian Jones is governed by the Code of Conduct of the Bar of England and Wales (available here).  Complaints should, in the first instance, be addressed to Ian Jones at the above address.  If a satisfactory solution is not obtained in this way, Ian Jones is subject to a non-judicial dispute resolution procedure which may be accessed through the Legal Ombudsman’s website (available here).  All barristers have professional liability insurance provided by the Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund Limited of 90 Fenchurch Street, London EC3M 4ST.  Territorial coverage is worldwide, subject to the terms of cover (available here).
